This month I am partnered up with Scrappy Cocoa! I am a huge fan of her work and I am extremely excited to be showcasing her work this month! I had a hard time choosing an older kit that I wanted to showcase because everything from her is amazing. I did finally make a decision. I went with Mr. Metal. Sounds like a kit that was originally made for boys, but not having any boys of my own I think I did a good job making a page for a girl instead. Have a look:

I really wanted to do a lot more journaling on this page but for some reason everything that I tried just didn’t match with the format that I had planned. I’m actually happy with what I ended up with. It’s nice sometimes to have a page with little to no information.. When creating a whole book with scrap pages, I find that it’s nice to have a page here and there without any commentary. What do you think?

My page for scrapping survivor week two didn’t make the cut. That means I sit out for the rest of the season. At least I can still vote on who moves on through week 3. That should be fun.

The LO for week 2 was a page about your favorite recipe. I chose a version of Carbonara to share with everyone. Here’s my page:

It was created with Fresh Baked, a Gingerbread Lady collab at none other then… GingerScraps! Honestly, I wasn’t very motivated to make this page to start with, so it was hard to make it special. It’s really kind of boring and I’m sure that’s why it didn’t make the cut. Oh well, better luck next year. Until then, there’s some amazing scrap kits in the shop that I can’t wait to get my hands on. :)

Have you heard about Scrapping Survivor over at GingerScraps? Last week they announced the first challenge and it was due by Sunday. I was the first one to enter a layout which was a little nerve racking. As the layouts started coming in I was getting a little nervous that I might be voted “out of the attic”. There is a fun theme going on this year, it’s all about Grandma’s Attic. For the first challenge we had to ‘age’ a photo and scrap it along with the original. Here is the layout that I made:

Doesn’t that photo look familiar?! I decided I would use the other kit I had found that went well with the photo. This one is called An Elegant Day and it’s by Kathy Winters. You can find it in the shop, you know where!

I’m off to start on my layout for the new challenge posted today. I have to make a page about my favorite recipe. It has to include a photo of my food and a recipe card. This one is going to be a bit challenging for me..

It’s nice to have a new layout up in the gallery at GingerScraps! It’s been such a long time. I was honestly a little worried that scrapping the digital way wasn’t going to be anything like riding a bike. However, I definitely proved myself wrong. Though, there were a few issues with some effects that I couldn’t remember how to do, but a little trial and error and I got most of it figured out. Gotta love Photoshop…

A few months back a friend of mine uploaded some pictures of my kids to facebook and I snatched this one up right away:

Then yesterday, I went through almost the entire GingerScraps Shop looking for the perfect kit to go with it. I found a couple great choices actually, but ended up using a kit by Marie H. Designs called Light Up My Life:

I might still pull the other kit I found out and make another page with this picture ‘cause it’s just so darn cute!

Time to clean this place up!

I know I do! Which means I'm pretty sure you are going to like this. A few months ago I was able to get my hands on a lovely little program called FontLab Studio. Love it! I have been dinking around with it for a few weeks now and finally finished my very first font. Since it turned out so freakin’ awesome, I thought I’d share!

I had a hard time with the TOU for this. With all of the pirating going around lately I wasn’t sure how to make it clear that my fonts are not available for any use aside from personal.

Okay, so I’m going through way too much emotional garbage to be keeping on track with my goals. Life sucks sometimes! I’m finally completely separated from my ex. We have nothing in common now aside from our two girls. I’ve moved, but found no house to live in and I’m going on a week late getting my products ready for a grand opening. I haven’t quite finished my first font (it’s turning out so cute!) and I never get any free time anymore. So.. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! That’s not even everything, but a good enough update to justify for why I suck at blogging right now. Forgive me my loyal readers and please don’t loose hope.

Oh no! I can’t believe that I haven’t written anything here since NOVEMBER!! I must fix that. So, here I am with a quick note to tell you all that I’m still here and aside from the not so great things going on, I’m still alive! I’ll ‘splain sometime. For now though, lets just say “When it rains, it pours”. No promises, but i’ll try to get back here more often. Thanks loyal readers, I hope you all didn’t abandon me.

Theater Time

Amazingly enough I made it out to the theater to catch a flick!! Can you believe it? It was odd being baby-less.

Anyway, I went out to see The Time Traveler's Wife with my SIL and it was definatly a good choice! Sad as can be, but I loved the story. It had a darling ending and I'd definatly recomend it to anyone who likes movies like The Notebook.

Well, that's my two cents on that! Read any good books lately? I'm almost done with the twilight series. Just started the fourth book and soon I'll be in search of a new set to read. I was thinking about reading Ink Heart. I have a copy of it somewhere around here and since they made it into a movie, I'm a little curious about it again. I have only read the first couple of chapters and for some reason haven't been able to get into it. Possibly because I picked up Twilight and that just took over. Who knows!?

Not much else going on at the moment. I'm totally having Photoshop withdrawls, I hate not having my laptop with me and wish that Hubby wouldn't book-nap it from me all the time. Oh well, I'll survive. We'll be headed home tomorrow and Hubby works Monday, so I'll have plenty of time to get a fix. LOL!

Guess what today is! It’s Fresh Baked Wednesday at Ginger Scraps and I put together a couple pages for the two new kits being released by Miss Erin Scraps.

Can’t Decide

Hmm. I can’t decide which kit to use for my new blog wear!! Plus, I forgot I was suppose to be working on another freebie for you guys… My oh my, where has me brain gone? Reminds of me of saying “I’ve gone to look for myself…” however it ends.. Can’t remember.

Madison did the silliest thing today. Well I think it’s silly anyway. Her grandparents have a Blue Grass band and many times Maddie gets to go with them when they play. Today, she pulled a storage box out form under her bed and used it as a stage. At first I couldn’t figure out what she was doing. She was just standing on this box jumping around and yelling really loud. Then I realized that she was Singing! Just like grandma and grandpa up on the stage. It was so cute. Every once in a while she’d stop and start talking to her ‘audience’ (me) then she’d start singing again. I giggles so hard that tears starting coming out my eyes. Wish I had the video camera, I’m sure her grandparents would have loved to see that!

Hi all! Have you seen Graham like the Cracker’s new kit “Little Sighs”? It is just adorable! Here is a page that I made with it:

Jen (Graham Like the Cracker) says this about her new kit:

“I absolutely love the newborn stage. It is the best sound in the world when your baby is resting on your shoulder and they make a tiny little sigh. So this kit is for scrapping all of those delicious newborn moments! It is filled with lots of stars, ribbon, buttons, ric rac and other scrapping necessities!”

I made that LO for the Survivor challenge at Ginger Scraps. How cute is that? Also, I made an ATC card for a CT challenge at Plain Digital Wrapper:

Those are some cute kids, don’t you think? Here’s a couple more pages that I’ve made since I’ve had Liberty. The first one was made for Survivor but I missed the deadline to advance. It was made with “Smolder” by Athena at PDW. Then the second LO was made with “Create” by Southern Creek Designs also at PDW.

The LO above is of Madison. You can definitely tell that they came from the same parents! I made this with a kit by Wylde Web Designs called “A Scrap A Day”. You can find it at Ginger Scraps. (I wasn’t sure if I had shared this one with you yet and it’s one of my favorites!)

I think that’s about all the updates that I have for you! I think I’m going to start on a new kit sometime this week. Right now I’m trying to decide on a swatch. I just can’t seem to pick one! Anyway, hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Plain Digital Wrapper + Freebie

Happy Friday!! How’s everyone doing? We had a pretty good week. The in laws were in town this week and we all went to McMenamin’s to see Monsters Vs. Aliens. It was Madison’s first time at the theater and I think she enjoyed it for the most part, but Grandma said the loud noises scared her throughout the movie. So, we probably won’t be doing that again for a while. At least until she’s a bit older I think.

Let’s see, what have I been working on? Oh yea, I finally got my hands on another kit at Plain Digital Wrapper. This time it’s by Patty Webb and here’s a preview:

I picked out this kit because I really loved the colors and the papers looked really beautiful to me! Here’s the page that I made using just some of the papers from the kit:

I had originally started this page for one of the challenges, but took a completely different turn and came up with this instead.

Speaking of challenges. I put together some Glitter styles and sheets using the color pallet from the Colored Tape challenge at PDW. Here’s a preview:

I don’t think I did too bad for my first time. However, I made them wwayyy too big so I had to spread them out into 4 downloads (6 photoshop styles and 6 12x12 at 300 dpi .png glitter sheets included). These are free for you to download, just log in at Plain Digital Wrapper and head over to this thread. Scroll over to page 2 and find my post (priddysweetjill), the links are posted there! While you’re there, go ahead and join in on the fun!

It’s time again to share some of the work I’ve been doing on the PDW CT. I’ve only worked with one kit so far this month. Due to my internet being cranky for a few weeks, I just got in contact with my assigned designers this last week. So, over the last couple weeks of the month, I’ll probably be showing off a few other kits as well (hopefully!)

Here’s the kit that I’ve been playing with for the last couple of days. It’s called Laughter and it’s by KariQ Designs:

I love how the bright and dark colors go together and this kit just seemed to work with any photo’s that I tried to use. Here’s a few layouts that I made:

I think the little space dudes are flippin’ cute! Plus, I’ve really been trying to challenge myself by using boy themed kits for my girly pages. We won’t be trying for another kid for a few years now, so I won’t have any boys to scrap about for a while yet. Assuming we get the boy that we are trying for. Knowing Hubby’s luck we will have all girls!

I think that’s about it for today. Oh! I saw “The Myst” the other night for the first time, and I’d have to say that it’s a MUST SEE!! It’s a bit on the gruesome and scary side, but the twist at the end makes this one of those movies that pulls every string.

All Business, No Pleasure

I just flipped through some of my recent blog posts and realized that it’s been about a whole lot of business and not much personal stuff. I’m not even sure if I mentioned anywhere on my blog recently that I’m pregnant and due for another baby girl on July 10th!! That means I’m so close!! Less then a month away and all I can think about is how much that I hope she comes early. I’m so done being extra tired, extra fat, and extra hot! (Did I mention extra tired? How ‘bout extra hormonal!!) Let it all be over so that we can start taking pictures of our second beautiful baby girl!!

We are pretty set on a name, but I’ll wait for that until the actual announcement. (Yes, I am going to make you all wait!) Originally, we weren’t going to tell anyone whether it was a boy or a girl, but, somehow that cat got out of the bag (*cough *daddy *cough) Everyone was just going to go insane without that one little tidbit of information so we let it spill.

I don’t have any ultrasound pictures scanned, and once again, I didn’t get any photo’s of my prego progression. I’m a little bummed about that, (aside from the fact that I don’t want any photo evidence of the fact that I’ve surpassed a weight that I’d rather not mention) I just never seem to think about it and when I do the camera is no where to be found. Just like I want to get some cute photo’s of Maddie doing one of her favorite things, playing at the park, but I always seem to leave the camera at home. Maybe I should try tying a ribbon around my finger or something. Right now, I’d probably forget what I was trying to remember by tying an annoying piece of fabric on my hand. I’d leave it in my car, but with my luck someone would think it would make a nice addition to their stolen good collection! Oh well, maybe mommy brain will subside a little once baby is home and we all have a chance to breath again.

I’ve decided to start on a “First Year” book for Maddie. So far I have the first page done:

Just a simple little title page I guess. Nothing spectacular. And, the last couple days I’ve been thinking that I might switch out the first birthday photo in the center with the first day photo instead… But then, page two is going to be about birth, so that might be a little repetitive.

I think that’s the only page that I’ve made for me that didn’t have anything to do with a CT or a forum challenge. Goes to show how busy I am ‘working’. Hopefully soon I can put that ‘work’ to good use and make some money. It’s that or find a real job and who wants to do that when they can hopefully make the money doing something that they actually enjoy doing!

Man, that is one cute little girl up there! I just wish that she’d grow some darn HAIR!!

Just take a look at that cute little Mohawk she’s got going on there. Really, she’s got more hair then what it looks like, but it’s so fine. Now that she’s 19 months old (she was only about 10months in the photo above), her hair has really thickened up in the back and she’s got some great curls, but that bunch on top just does not want to grow much. Pretty soon she’ll be in pig tails and I’ll be cutting gum out of her pretty long locks.

As you can see from this photo (sort of) It’s really starting to thicken up a bit. Finally. This photo was taken in February. I can’t seem to find any photo’s of all her cute curls in the back…

Here is one of the cutest photo’s of her:

I wonder how telling of her in later years this photo is. It’s probably what she’ll look like when she’s a teenager. Curled up in a chair with a phone attached to her ear. I really wish this was better quality, but you can’t expect much from a cell phone.

Well ladies. I don’t think I have anything else to tell you about. I just thought it was time to put a little personal stuff on here for a change so that it wasn’t all work and no play.

There are a couple kits from Ginger Scraps that have been released today! First is a beautiful kit by Wyld Web Designs. It’s called New Recycling:

I really love this kit. The colors are great and I had a really fun time making this page:

Next, there’s a kit called Red, White & Blue Adventures by Graham like the Cracker: and I got the chance to put together an LO for this kit as well:

I had a lot of fun with these two kits and they are so versatile. While I was in the creation mood, I made you ladies some Quick pages using Red, White & Blue Adventures:

Wyld Web Designs

I have another kit from Ginger Scraps that I thought I’d show you. This time it’s by Wyld Web Designs and it’s called “Shadows Of Me”.

Here is the LO that I made with this kit:

The journaling is actually a song by Plain White T’s called 1234. It’s the one I chose for my Lyrics challenge at Ginger Scraps. I have a few more ideas for some pages with this kit and I’ll hopefully get a chance to do that in the next couple days. That way I can really show off some of those Elements.

I also made another page for Boot Camp:

I thought this page turned out really cute. I finally got my old collection of kits onto this computer so I’ve been able to use those again. I’m going to have to clean my hard drive up a bit here pretty soon because I’ll be running out of room! Amazingly enough, I haven’t spent more then a total of $5 on my whole collection of scrapbooking supplies. It’s amazing the amount of good quality stuff that people are willing to give away for free. Almost makes you wonder if anyone makes much money by selling their designs?!

Hopefully I’ll get my technique down soon so that I can make an extra dollar or two!

Ginger Scraps

Today was fresh baked day at Ginger Scraps and I thought I’d share with you a couple kits that were released. First there is a kit by Scrappy Cocoa called Natures Music:

I haven’t had a chance to work with this yet, but hopefully it’ll be the next kit I download! I really love the colors. They are so soft and can be used for boy or girl layouts, plus I’m a huge fan of ‘nature’ like kits.

Next is one of my favorite kits that I’ve seen released so far at Ginger Scraps. This kit is by Miss Erin Scraps and it’s called Remember the Best Dreams:

I Love this kit! And it works for so many different types of Layouts. Head on over to Miss Erin’s Product Gallery and take a gander at all the great pages that her CT put together with this beautiful kit.

How’s the speed scrapping going? I was headed over to do the SS tonight, but of course, I miss-read the time thinking it was at 9 Pacific, when it was really at 9 Eastern. Bummer!! Hopefully I’ll get it right for tomorrow. I know for sure it’s at 9 this time! I double and triple checked. Hopefully it hasn’t changed last minute!! We’ll see what happens.

Too cool! My dad has worn those overall’s since I was little, so this seemed like the perfect kit to scrap a memory with my daughter. “Buckle Up” will be available at Sunshine Studios soon!

So, Queen of Scrap seems to be going well. I only have about 25 more pages to get done before I’m anywhere close to the top 10 and I have about 3 days to do so. Don’t think I’m going to make it, but I did pass up 20 (I’m at 22, yay!) so I should be getting that Level 2 prize that I was talking about in my last post. Subtle Flair Alpha

How was everyone’s Memorial Day weekend? We stuck around the house and did a whole lot of nothing!! It was nice, mainly because it was way too crowded in town to be out and about. I did catch the new Terminator movie on Friday. I’d have to say it was the best of them all. A must see! Even if you’re not much of a terminator fan.

Today I’m giving away another one of my old freebies. It’s not a bad little flair alpha, but I do admit that the letters could definitely be a bit darker. Oh well, I included a blank flair as well so you can use your own font. Here’s a preview, click to download:

So, I am no where near my goal of 50 LO’s for the QOS at Scrap Matters. I’ve only gotten another 6 pages done, so I’m at a total of 17. I am going to try for at least 3 more for the free kit they give away at 20 (I hope it’s that many anyway… I can’t seem to find the post again to check on the next prize level)

Take a Peak - Purplish Green

Just stopping in to show you what I’ve been working on. It’s a kit that I’ve called Purplish Green, however I am completely open to suggestions if you have a better name for it. I had a complete brain fart or something while I was trying to think of what to call it. Anyway, lets get to it:

Paper Dot Alpha

Quite a few blog posts ago, I posted about some Paper Date Dots that I was working on and as soon as they were finished I was going to offer them here on my blog. Well, the time has come. But, I’m adding a little twist. Today, I’m offering one part of this complete set. Just the alpha:

Bits and Pieces

I can officially say that I am now on the CT at Digital Candy! Yay! I was a little worried there because as I had said in one of my previous posts, my Scrapin’ mojo seemed to have gone MIA and I was (still sort of am) having some real creative difficulties.

Hopefully, now that I’m starting to get caught back up with my online ‘duties’, my creativity will begin to flow nicely once again. Now all I need to do is figure out how to handle 3 CT spots, a blog, attempts at designing, a 1 and a half year old, and housework. I am open to suggestions!

I’ve got a cute little alpha set and date tags made up for you and as soon as I polish them off and get the final little touches done I’ll post ‘em for you all to enjoy. Here’s a little sneaky for you:

The kit is cute and it was perfect for Madison’s birthday photo’s. I’ve got over 200 photos of her first birthday and I really haven’t scrapped a whole lot of them yet.

I officially hate free wireless internet access with a true passion. Sometimes it works, most the time it doesn’t.

But, anyway… Moving on.

I had a spark of creativity yesterday and made a somewhat decent LO that I thought I’d show off.

For this page I used the wonderful Ginger Scraps collab kit called “Spring is in the Air”. I think I’ve already shown this kit off to you, but here’s the preview again in case you missed it.

This was the free kit you received for completing 4 challenges at Ginger Scraps last month. It’s now available in the store, you can click the preview to have a look.

This month, GS offered a blog train where you could get “Blast off” and instead of receiving the kit when you completed 4 challenges there’s a set of Glitter for you when you’ve finished up all 4. I made the LO I just showed you for the Color challenge. (Each month GS uses the color swatch from the previous month’s collab)

I’m a bit behind on showing off some of Ginger’s new products and you’ll notice that there are many new designer faces there now too.

Digital Candy

How’s everyone’s week going? Did you like that alpha I put together for you? If you haven’t checked it out yet, check on the previous post.

Today I wanted to tell everyone about the CT contest at Digital Candy. I’ve officially made it to week 4 and it’s the final week of the competition for a CT spot at DC. I’m pretty excited and I wanted to show off some of the things that I’ve done over the past few weeks.

I made this layout last week. It was a fun little challenge to make a layout about yourself.

This layout was created using Cocoa Latte by Paula Phillips found Here at Digital Candy. It was made for the final challenge. This next page was also made using the same kit.

Great kit! I’m a complete coffee addict, I just wish I had more photo’s of me and coffee to use with the kit. But, it’s still so versatile as you can see by my second layout.

Had a little extra time…

I thought it was about time that I started working on some of my designing skills before I got all rusty. Needless to say, I think I waited a bit too long for that. However, I have started on a little something that I’ll work on when I’m not busy with home life or CT work.

If you haven’t noticed already, all of my old freebies are no longer available. It was a surprise for me to find out that I waited too long and 4shared ended up timing out and all was lost since I was only using the free service. Lucky for me, I think I still have most of those items stored on my hard drive and I’ll be “re-releasing” those items over the next few weeks. (Well, the ones that I feel are worthy anyway…) If you have any favorites that you’d like to see again, let me know!

Today though, I have a new freebie for you that I just finished up.

It’s a mini acrylic alpha that will go along with the kit that I’m slowly putting together. Nothing fancy. Click the preview to download.

Time for a change

I thought it was time for a little update and I’m very happy with how it all turned out. I used the new collaboration kit from Ginger Scraps.

You can get this kit for Free when you complete 4 of the challenges. It’s easy and completely worth it. Click the image to read about it in the forum.

Along with the kit, I used some great fonts and doodles from Fonts for Peas. I suggest checking them out if you haven’t already. They have a great selection of handwriting fonts that they offer for free.

Alright, I think that’s about it for me today. I’ve got lots of PDW work to do and some catch up with Ginger Scraps as well. It seems that ever since October I’ve been one step behind and I’m hoping that I can get back on track soon.

What’s New at GingerScraps?

I am so far behind on my Luv’s for GingerScraps. Man oh man!! This month we’ve started a new thing with our challenges. Ginger and the other designers have teamed up to make a brand new freebie kit for everyone. All you have to do is complete 4 challenges for the month and the kit is yours!

Here is a preview of the kit for this month, and there should be another new freebie kit each and every month. Don’t forget to participate because the kits will be headed to the store when the month is over.

Isn’t that just a beautiful kit? It’s called chocolate kisses and one of our great CT members put together a word art set to go along with it too!!

For those of you that like to do the Speed Scraps, a bunch of the girls have gotten together and scheduled a ton for February. They haven’t officially been posted yet, but many of the participation prizes coordinate with Chocolate kisses and they won’t be available at any other time. Something else that has changed. I’m now offering two challenges in my Pop Culture category. Now you can do the Cinema-tastic challenge AND the That’s music to my ears challenge all in the same month!! I was pretty excited to get that all set up. This month you can scrap using lyrics from Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” or grab a quote from the movie “The Holiday”.

So, now there are a lot of challenges to choose from and it shouldn’t be that hard to complete 4 by the end of the month for that fab collab!

Guess what! There’s a little more news too! Ginger’s new photo gallery is up and running. All it’s needs is a little love! So head on over and start posting all your beautiful layouts!

While I’m here, I wanted to feature one of Ginger’s new(er) kits. It’s been so long since I’ve had time to really post anything and I’m thinking this is probably my favorite kit right now.

Not Very Good at This…

So, it’s been 11 days since the start of project 365 (if you began on January 1st) and I think I have taken a total of 5 pictures. That makes my completion rate at less then 50%. Not to mention that they’ve all been taken on my cell camera so the quality isn’t so great either. Doesn’t help that my good one needs new batteries (note to self: buy better batteries) nor have I been carrying it around with me wherever I go anyway. In fact, I’m not sure that i actually know where it’s at… (note #2: find camera).

There are the pictures that i’ve taken so far. The first one is the set of Madison’s favorite new toys. Next is a photo of her sitting in the car seat. She was pulling strings off her socks and placing them on her head. The next photo is of Madison playing with her books. She has figured out how to move the cushions from grandpa’s coffee table out of the way so she can sit there and play. Next is a photo of my messy bed. You can’t really see the cat that is next to the window very well. But, the funny part about this photo is that the two cats are usually never closer then 10ft. So it was cute to see them both lying on my bed at the same time. Lastly is Madison with a balloon hat that her daddy made for her.

Too Many Messages

So. I wanted to stay up to date on a few of the blogs that I like to read. To do so, I started adding them to google reader. It’s such a great thing. Until I am too busy to check it for a few days and I open it up to see 249 new messages.. My goodness. The scrapbooking world is BUSY! Must be the holidays. I’m sure that it doesn’t help that I’m always adding new blogs. How else am I going to keep on top of all the new freebies and wonderful downloads. My oh my. Anyway, If it’s not one thing it’s another and I just can’t seem to get caught up at all.

A few other things, ginger had a sale over the weekend. What a bad CT blogger I am. You may still have time to get over there and check it out. I think today was the last day:

There’s more information posted on my myspace (priddysweetjill) however, my profile is private and due to what’s been going on I’m pretty careful about who I allow to see it. I’d post it here, but there are certain people that I’d prefer not to pour my heart out to.

So, now that that is all said and done. I’m off to try to once again get caught up. Hopefully (Hopefully) I’ll be back to my usual almost daily posting.

Real Life Always Trumps the Digital World

Hey everyone. I've been sort of MIA the past week and I thought I'd stop in and leave a little note. There's been a lot going on. My daughter and I have started over in our lives and we're in the process of getting things straightened out. I hope that you all understand and I'm trying my hardest to get caught up on my "digital duties" the best I can. However, it takes second place in the race of life for me. So, if I've forgotten to do something a kind reminder is appreciated and I will add it to my list of things to do. I'm only one person and I can only take things one step at a time.

Madison got to go to another pumpkin patch. This time she got to ride in a wagon and become a pumpkin. Here’s a few photo’s..

She looks like she had an absolute blast and I wish that I could have been there, but Mommy was at work. Soon though, I’ll be staying at home with the baby. I can’t wait!

Stories in Hand

There needs to be a way to fill in those gaps for which there might not be a full-blown 2-page spread that took me 4 hours. But that is a story worth telling nonetheless.

I'm confident that I'm not the only person out there in this situation. So that's why I developed this class. We ALL have stories. And whatever way it is that we choose to tell them, we all need a way of capturing them first. So that's where Stories in Hand comes in.”

What a Party!

Seems that Madison’s party was a big hit! We gathered up the whole family and went out to the fun center. They have a nice little party room, bowling, arcade room, batting cages, billiards, go carts, bumper cars and food food food! Here are a few pictures. I was having some technical difficulties with my camera (sucks!) so most of the shots were pretty dark, but that’s nothing I can’t fix later with good old Photoshop.

There are a few of the better ones. I think I ended up taking about 300 pictures.. I can’t wait till I get the chance to scrap and edit these! Yay!

Hope everyone had a great week! Now that Madison is back home, I’m not sure what my time is going to be like so I’ll be posting as often as I can.

A group over at Cafe Mom is having a challenge to see who can make the most digi pages this month for the title of Scrap Goddess. The woman to beat has 35 pages so far. I’m only at 10. So I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

Phew! I spend a lot of time on my pages so it’s going to take me a long time to get 25 more pages done! Wow!

I bet you guys want some credits. The top page was made with a lovely kit by Juliegoodgirl and Merepoule called “Oiseau”. I also use the stitched pastel alphas by Melany Violette.

The second page was made with the kit “Romance d’Autrefois” by Claire7799. I also used the promise alpha from shabby princess and the beige paper was from Courtney Wilson. This page was made for a Plain Digital Wrapper Challenge.

Alright! I’m off to see if there’s anything else I can put together for the challenge!

It's Madison's birthday on Thursday!! Yay!! I'm very excited. That means I'll be gone for a couple days entertaining company and getting ready for her birthday party. Hopefully I'll be back on Friday with lots and lots of pictures to show you.

Mom’s Favorite Face - 9/6/2008

This was made with a mini kit called Wishing on a Flower by Irene Alexeeva. I also used a Shabby Princess Alpha called Harvest Spice.

I believe that the picture was taken by Madison’s Aunt Tiffany while in the backseat on the way to or from the coast. This is by far my most favorite face that she’s made in her whole year of life. I’m sure there'll be many more to come, but this is just absolutely Priceless! Look at all those teeth!

One more thing that I wanted to share with this LO. The font that I used was from Fonts for Peas. This site is great. You can turn your own handwriting into a font. And, they’ll do it for free if they like your handwriting! How neat is that!? One of these days I’ll get a sample together, but until then, I’ll use the countless fonts that they offer. All Free. All handwriting! Go check it out!

Cafe Mom – A place for Everyone!

This was the first community that I joined once I became a mom. This was also the community where I learned about digital scrapbooking. I joined Melanie’s (SassyPixi) group – Digital Scrapbooking – and it all went on from there. I started making pages, joined a bunch of the scrapbooking forums. Opened up my first blog (though I had many web pages that I had started and never finished) then became a digital designer. And now, I’ve started a new group at Cafemom called Scrap Kit Designers. I’m hoping this will be a fun place to learn how to make elements, papers, kits and somewhere that people can go to learn how to use there computer programs in an atmosphere that is Scrapbooking Related. Another Fall Frenzy LO + Freebie

Tutorial - Adding a New Background in Blogger

If you haven't noticed already, I've changed the look of my blog to this wonderful blue. Want to know where I got it? I made it from the "It's Ladies Night" kit by Ginger at GingerScraps!! Head on over there and grab this fab kit inspired by the wonderful Sex and the City!

Lately I've had a lot of requests asking for help on getting blog layouts set up. For some reason, the directions that are usually given with the layouts people download are not all that great so this is my attempt at giving a little help for those that aren't that familiar with blogger, html or CSS. This is just a quick little how to on adding a background and maybe later I'll get into some more in depth stuff. First, I want to point you to a great blogger resource at http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com there is a lot of great information on fixin' up your blog. However, they get a little technical sometimes so if you have any questions about what they are talking about just leave me a note.

Now, on to the tutorial.

First lets start off with logging into Blogger. Once you're there get over to your dashboard. (Usually when you log in it'll take you straight to it, however if you're looking at your blog you can click on 'customize' in the top right corner, then click on dashboard.)

Next, click on where it says Layout. This should bring you to a page with the following menu.

Click on where it says Edit HTML. Once you're there, the first thing you want to do is make a back up of the template you already have. That way if you don't like the changes that you've made you will have something to go back to.

Click where it says "Download Full Template" and save someplace that you can find it later if you need it.

One you've saved your old blog, scroll down a little further to the edit box:

See at the bottom of the box where it says variable definitions? What you're going to do is scroll down just past all those lines that say variable until you find the line that says "Body"

Alright, see there in the middle of the box (above) there's the line that says "body" and then I've highlighted the code that we'll be working with:

Note: If you want to learn more about the syntax of the HTML/CSS coding there's a great website HERE that you can check out.

I'll go through a few CSS/HTML code basics just so you know what I'm talking about.

The basic CSS is a combination of a Selector or tag, then a property and finally a value of that property. In this tutorial we will be working with the Selector/tag: BODY, the property: BACKGROUND and the values that go along with those. Those will include centering the image, setting the position and scroll actions. More about those in a bit.

Right now we are going to take a look at the first line with the BACKGROUND property;

background: #000000;

All this line does is set the color of your blog background (the color that shows up UNDER the image you'll be adding) using the 6 digit HTML HEX CODE as the value for this line of CSS code. I usually try to set this to something that matches the image that I'll be adding, but that is not necessary. It's possible that you may not even have this line in your code, DON'T WORRY, it's not important. (#000000 = black)

The next thing we are going to do is add 4 lines to the Body tag. They will look like this: (Copy and Paste)

background-image: url(http://www.link.com);
background-position: center center;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-attachment: fixed;

Here's a picture of what the code looks like with these lines added:

Here's a little breakdown of each line for you plus other variables that you can experiment with if you like. (take advantage of the PREVIEW button)

First is the background-image line. This is where you will add the link for your new template image. Your design should be at least 1024 pixels wide. This way you can be sure that it will fit properly on most computer screens. Unfortunately, everyone's is different so you have to take that into consideration. Something that looks perfect for you may be completely off for someone else. Make sure you insert your web address between the (brackets).

background-image: url(http://www.photobucket.com);

The next line is background-position. This tells blogger to align your image where you want it. Again for proper viewing purposes, you want to be centered, that way no matter what size the screen, it'll line up with your blog text properly. So, for this line you'll want to set the values at center center. The reason for two is so it centers your image vertically AND horizontally.

background-position: center center;

Other values include:

top left
top center
top right
center left
center right
bottom left
bottom center
bottom right

Alright, on to the 3rd value: background-attachment. There are only two values for this property. Scroll and fixed. On my blog, I have this value set to fixed. Unless your background image repeats seamlessly, I suggest keeping it fixed. (when you scroll you see the text move over the image and the background stays in place) Go ahead and experiment with both values and see what works best for your blog.

The last line that we'll be working with is the background-repeat property. There are 4 different values for this property:

repeat - tiles your background image horizontally and vertically
repeat-x - tiles your background horizontally only
repeat-y - tiles your background vertically only
no-repeat - does not repeat your background image

Feel free to experiment with these values as well. But you'll probably find that the no-repeat works best with your fixed attachment.

background-repeat: no-repeat;

That's it! Preview to make sure it's working properly and click SAVE TEMPLATE!

Using Creative Lettering to Enhance Your Layouts

[Note: This was an article that I found at Gather.com and I thought that it had some great advice that I wanted to share with you. The focus of this article is for traditional scrapbooking but it's a great source of info and ideas for digital also.]

When you're putting together a scrapbook page, it's the little things that make it unique. The carefully planned layout, the choice embellishments, and the shapes of your pictures all come together to make a page special. To top it all off, you need some beautiful lettering for your title and journaling.

Some scrapbookers shy away from doing their own lettering, usually because they are not pleased with their own handwriting. They use stickers or die cut letters to make titles and do their journaling with their word processing programs. While there's nothing wrong with that, it doesn't provide for much individuality. Learning to do your own creative lettering gives you much more flexibility.

Creative Lettering Books and Software Can Help

There are numerous books for scrapbookers that focus exclusively on creative lettering. Most of them have lots of different alphabets, complete with samples of every letter and number. Some are easy enough to do freehand, while more complex ones require tracing.

There is also creative lettering software. It also includes a large selection of fonts, and some programs allow for searching available fonts for certain characteristics. These programs can be used to print out titles and journaling directly, or you can type them in, print them, and then trace.

Creative Lettering Tips

Creative lettering isn't something that you can pick up in a snap. It takes practice. Here are some tips to reduce the learning curve:

* Choose a lettering style that fits well with the subject of your page. For example, if your page is about a visit to the beach, a highly formal alphabet is probably not the best choice. Selecting one that is pretty yet casual will make your page flow better.
* For your first few attempts, you might want to do your lettering on a separate sheet of paper, then cut it out and paste it onto the page. That way if you make a mistake, you can simply start over with more paper rather than having to completely redo your page.
* If you're worried about making your lettering straight and uniform, draw some very light lines in pencil to go by. Using three lines, kind of like the paper that children use when learning to write, will help you keep both your capital and your lowercase letters the right size.
* Don't try to use an ultra-fancy style when doing extensive journaling. It's better to stick close to your natural handwriting when writing long passages. By all means, feel free to embellish a bit and emphasize important words, but don't expect yourself to write hundreds of words flawlessly in a style that's far from your own.

The right lettering has a way of pulling a scrapbook page together. And it's even better when you do the lettering yourself, because it adds a certain amount of personality to your pages. Creative lettering might seem intimidating at first, but with some practice, you'll soon be making lovely titles and journals.

A New Frenzy Preview and a Giveaway

It is probably the best movie that I've seen all year. Be prepared for a massive tear jerker and make sure you've got time to sit and watch without interruption (It's definitely a flick for after the kiddos go to bed). It's money well spent whether you are a renter or a buyer! I watched it a few weeks ago and it's still on my mind. It really moved me. You just have to see it!

Photo Manip's and More GS Info!

Madison went to the beach with my dad and his girlfriend Angie and they got some really great shots of baby girl out in the sand. Here is one that I manipulated a little, I really like how it turned out.

I'll probably end up doing other things to it later. Maybe a black and white or sepia. Possibly a sketch or watercolor of this photo. I also made an LO using this photo along with another Ginger Scraps kit that I wanted to introduce to you today. This one is called Cool Off:

Finally Did Some More Pages...

I really like the bonus' you get this month at Scrap Outside the Box. So these are the first 3 pages that I've put together for those challenges. I've got 9 more to go, good thing the month just started!

This first page, which is actually the last one that I've done, is for the "tricks of the trade" challenge. This month we were supose to mask in a word/title to the photo. I think I did a pretty good job, unfortunalty I picked such a large word that I had to make it so small. Next time I'll chose something a little smaller so that the letters can be larger. As an added bonus, the kit I used is for the Treasure Hunt at one of my Cafemom groups: Digital Scrapbooking LO Contests. What's even better then that, is that the kit was made by the lovely designer who I happen to be a CT for. Congrat's to me; 3 birds, one stone! This kit is called Fancy Fall. I just love the alpha that she made to go with it. I'll have to make another page to show it off though...

This next page is for the "Do it like me" challenge. This one is basically a scraplift and I used another one of Ginger's kits. This is her Beach Glass kit, you can find it on her blog Here.

Monday Mini

Sorry I couldn't get this out yesterday! Not only did blogger not let me upload, but I couldn't get the file uploaded on 4shared either. It was so weird. Hopefully it'll all work out better today.

Before I get to the download, I thought I'd tell you a little bit about the weekend. We packed up and left on Friday night after work and stayed at DH's Parents' house. We didn't actually leave for the beach till the next morning. The whole way there the clouds started getting thicker and thicker. Although it was cloudy, foggy, cold and PACKED! The beach wasn't too bad. There were a couple things going on while we were there. A car show, which are always neat. And, an awesome kite show! They were flying all these huge kites. (at this point the camera was still packed). We got our room and relaxed a bit then headed off to the cold beach to let Madison sink her toes into the sand. At least we can say that she touched the ocean on her first trip to the beach. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of that either. We had planned on going back out again before we left and we'd get pictures then, but we never made it.

The next day, we woke up to some clouds but by the time we were ready for brunch and packed to leave the clouds had left behind a beautiful blue sky. Madison fell asleep on the way to the beach and we were on a somewhat crunched schedual to get back, so, once again, no pictures of Madison's first trip to the beach. However, we did get some pictures at the waterfall that we stopped at on the way home.
